Does anyone know how to covert a Screenwatch file to a .wmv file? There is a utility inside Screenwatch installation called "scvtowmv.exe" that I was directed to. When using this, it fails to reconize the xxx_SA_av.asf file from a recording. I also tired several other commerical programs that convert .asf to .wmv and they also declared the Screenwatch .asf file not readable. Does anyone know why appears to be non-standard?
Note: the reason in need to create a .wmv file is that the Media player or other does not need any special plug-ins to play the video file. I also created a .wmv from another commerical program and would say the quality was not that bad as compared to the higher quality Screenwatch .asf file. So, while Screenwatch does not support this type of conversion, they should have something built-in for this. Often, people want to have quick video and just send the .wmv file that is immediately playable without all the baggage of all the Screenwatch files and plug-ins. |

Hi Bobbie,
There are 3 different asf files used during the creation of the screenwatch presenation. If you named your presenation "p", then there are these files: p.asf -- This is your raw audio file p_av.asf -- This file is for playing your audio and screen inside a web browser. p_SA_av.asf - this file is used for playing your presentation directly in the windows media player with the SW plugin. Make sure that when you run your scvtowmv.exe program that you use only the raw audio file, not one that already has screen recording embedded in it. Your command would be scvtowmv.exe -spi p.sc -wi p.asf -o mynewasf.wmv This does take a while to convert. Thanks, OPTX Support |

this works...thanks.
It would be nice if there was a one button utility to create this conversion than going off to the cmd line and hunt around for the right directory and copy over scvtowmv.exe to execute the conversion. Is there an easy way for me to create a windows utility that I make this myself? This saves me the grief of having to buy two programs : one for the quick videos and one for the high quality archive work. GOOD! By the way, the quality seems to be better than the other commercial .wmv program trying. Also, when will there be a new version of Screenwatch? What features will it have? Can you include this wmv conversion utility built into the GUI? |
