Hi,

We have a server plugin for linux. If you wish to record linux using ScreenWatch there are two ways.

1. You can use VNC and record the VNC viewer as you VNC into linux. This provides ok quality but not the best.

2. The best quality recording you can do for linux is to get a PC based X Windows client and just attach that client to your Linux box. It will then look and feel exactly like linux but be recording on Windows.

Hope that helps,

Hi Michael,

We used to have a set of plugins for the Realplayer 8 for linux. I have had some reports that the plugins do not work with the newer version of the realplayer. I believe we may update these plugins in this year, but of course that doesn't help you right now.

If you want to try what we have for an older version of the realplayer you can look at
http://www.screenwatch.com/linux/linuxbeta.htm

I hear there are old versions of the realplayer you can download, but I am not sure. If you can find a realplayer 8 I know these will work.... Since you are linux, you can keep 2 versions of the realplayer installed.

Thanks,

Thanks again for all your help. I tried the link you provided and tried to unzip the .gz yet I get the following error.

[root@71-13-57-167 DL]# gzip -d sw_linux20_021502.tar.gz

gzip: sw_linux20_021502.tar.gz: unexpected end of file
[root@71-13-57-167 DL]#

any ideas?

Thanks again.

Hi Michael,

You can check to see if the download is corrupted by doing the cksum command. Type

cksum *.gz

Your output should look lik

961819136 648039 sw_linux20_021502.tar.gz

If that matches, then you know the download is ok. If it still won't gzip, then let us know.

Thanks,
Brian

4201331940 362464 sw_linux20_021502.tar.gz
[root@71-13-57-167 DL]#

Thanks again for all the help

Hi Michael,

You'll need to try the download again. I'll see if we can push the player plugins for linux and a newer version of the realplayer up a little bit. We did most of the required work in the port to OSX for the Mac. We just need to port over to a newer version of linux....

We'll contact you if you would like to beta test a newer set of plugins.
Thanks,
Brian
