Brian,

Will published Screenwatch presentations display properly via a secure server (https://)? Or are there some components of the presentations which are inherently insecure and therefore impossible to display securely?

Thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave,

The media files will not play via an https connection, but I do believe that you can have the web page part on an https connection.

This is a limitation of the MS Media player as well as Real. I am not sure exactly why, but there must be something about a video stream that won't support that protocol.

Thanks,
Brian

Brian,

After posting I continued working on this, and surprisingly, I was able to play a complete presentation securely. Or at least, it appeared to be secure as the lock icon remained on. I was first given the message that the page contained both secure and nonsecure items. I responded "no, don't display the nonsecure items," and I was still able to view the entire presentation, media included.

Hi Dave,

I think what you have is that the web page itself (along with the graphics) are on the secure server, but the media files are not.

The way I tested WM and Real on the secure server is using an http stream. If you put an asf file on the secure server and access it using the https: url, it just won't work.

I think you probably still have your asf/rm files on a media server. This will work, but you will get that message also.

Thanks for the update,
Brian
