I'm having problems getting a presentation to run using RealPlayer.
The presenation is at

http://www.staff.city.ac.uk/psychstudies/DigitalSwitch/Presentation2/Job.htm

It crashes IE6 and Mozilla complains about not being able to find the plugin. (I have Realplayer already installed). This happens all 4 PC's I have tested.

I can play your tutorial at

http://www.presenternow.com/sales/video.htm

on both IE and Mozilla (ie realplayer seems to be installed and working OK).

The only thing I can think is that that maybe it's some setting in how I FTP the files up (ie binary or ASCII or auto)?

Thanks

Pete

Hi Pete,

Thank you for your post. I need a couple of pieces of information to help you further. Can you describe how you are publishing the content to your server?

We strongly advise to use the publisher built into ScreenWatch and if you need help setting it up, we'll be glad to help. There may be issues with just taking the raw ScreenWatch recording and placing it online. But I'll wait to hear from you further about this.

If you are using our publisher, please zip up the following files so that I can test them here:

Job.swp
Job.rm
Job.sc

This will help me see what is happening. You can send a link to these files (zipped up) to support@optx.com.

In any case, you will want to use binary transfer when doing things manually.

Best Regards,

Brian

Hi Peter,

We have verified that this latest version of ScreenWatch has a problem publishing to firefox.

We'll try and get a patch to you to fix the problem. If you want to fix the problem without the patch it is straightfoward. There is a templates folder where you installed ScreenWatch producer. In this templates folder there is a .js file for each style of template (I believe about 5 of them on the standard install).

You will need to open up each template in notepad and add the following statement wherever you see the embed command. This is in the functions embedreal, embedreal2, and embedreal3. There should be about 5 places you need to add the following string:

TYPE="audio/x-pn-realaudio-plugin"

So an example in the first instance of EMBED would look like this:

d.writeln('<EMBED id="avplayer" TYPE="audio/x-pn-realaudio-plugin" SRC="' + .... (the line continues).

You will need to have a space before TYPE and before the SRC tag.

I am writing this not to have you go modify all of your files manually, but for anyone else who may have this problem in the meantime.

I'll try and post here when an update is available for this bug.

Once this has been changed in all of the .js files in your template folder, then you need only to republish your presentation and firefox will work fine.

Thanks much,
Brian
