What McAffee setting need to change?

Hi Eric,
Thanks for your post. I am assuming that you are using version 6.0 not version 5. Mcafee needs to be disabled because it stops ScreenWatch from contacting the remote computer. The first step on remote recording is to do a remote recording to a single computer. That means to set the ip address or machine name to localhost but have the remote switch turned on. Once you can do that, then you are ready to try machine to machine. Remember that you must have SW installed on both machines. Can you get to that point and then we can go further. There is also a discussion in the version 6 forum. Let's discuss further issues at the end of the forum/topic so people can see it for future use. Thanks, OPTX Support |

Hi,
The remote machine will need a license. However, we do have an alternative licensing mechanism for folks who use our products to record trade shows and conferences. They pay an annual fee and they are able to license client computers (usually rented) directly from our website. If I am not mistaken, the annual cost is around $4k. The other option is to use VNC which is free. Hope that helps, OPTX Support |

Also, just a note around the use model. Our use model is mainly geared to university use. A specific job template can be set up so that non technical users can record and publish thier presentations without the help of anyone.
Once set up, the recording is literaly a double click of an icon, and then the start button is pressed. After finishing the recording, another couple of clicks and the content is online. As it can be used in the mode you stated, this is not as scaleable model as empowering users to do it themselves. As we look at the world, having 200 professors recording 200 lectures per hour is entirely possible and feasible. Having someone to have to operate the software and go to a special place for recording will not sustain this level. Just sharing our view on the model.... OPTX Support |

Can you clarify a few items? I pay 4K for the license on my machine. I need to assist two SMEs who work for my company to produce two 10 minutes video/aduio movies. Can I license their computers to remote record?

Hi Eric,
The $4k license will allow you to have up to 2 ScreenWatch Producer Applications licensed. Then you will be given the "remote recorder" that does not have the SW application, but all of the necessary software to attach to it and record remotely. This license lasts for a 1 year period. In short, you receive 2 licenses, then you receive other software that will let you record remotely on other computers. We created this mechanism to allow companies that use SW as a service provider to be able to temporarily record on computers that are not belonging to them. If you need a quote for this license, please email to sales@optx.com and ask them for a Service Provider ScreenWatch Producer license. If you need more than 2 SW applications, you can purchase those individually, or at our volume discount levels. |
