HELLO,
I'M IN CHARGE OF ELEARNING IN A UNIVERSITY IN FRANCE. YOU SOFTWARE IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH MACOS X, BUT IT IS NOT A PROBLEM FOR ME. UNFORTUNATLY, ALL THE TUTORIALS ON http://support.optx.com/tutorials/tutindex.htm PRODUCING WITH SWP ARE NOT READABLE ON MY MACOS X (NEITHER WITH REAL NOR WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER : BOTH IN LATEST VERSION). I THINK I CAN'T EXPERIMENT YOUR SOFT, AND I CAN'T PROPOSE SWP IN MY UNIVERSITY. SO, WHAT ABOUT FUTURES DEVELOPMENT (MAC COMPATIBILITY TO READ SWP OUTPUT) OR QUICKTIME COMPATIBILITY. THAT WILL BE COOL. THX

Hi Chris,

Actually, December last year we released our Mac OSX plugin for the realplayer version 10.

Please go to the following URL

http://www.screenwatch.com/pages/download.htm

and go to the Macintosh download page to install the plugins for playback on Macintosh.

We have tested agains the safari browser and the latest realplayer.

Some of the demos on our website are produced using Windows Media. These demos will not play back in the Mac environment because Microsoft has not released an SDK to allow us to build on that platform. But for the Realnetworks enviornment, you should be fine for playback.

Thanks,

Brian,

Is this still the case, that on a PC one can use either Real or WM with Screenwatch, but on a Mac, only Real will work? Any other special requirements for Mac, such as OS, browsers, etc.?

Thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave,

We do support playback on Mac OSX on the realplayer. Also, firefox or safari should be the browser used here as MS has discontinued support of IE (And it never supported any scripting control). Windows Media has a player on the Mac, but they do not support scripting and do not support any type of plugin support for the windows media player.

When you need to product content for people to view using Mac's, you'll need to use the realnetwork's format.

As far as making a recorder for the Mac, this is not on the schedule, however, you can record a mac by using VNC I believe.

We haven't added support for the new Intel macs because there is no realplayer ported to this yet.

Hope that helps,
