Is there a plugin for playing sc-content with a realPlayer or helixPlayer on a Linux machine? If not, will there be in the future?

Hi Jan,
We do have a plugin for linux that we had developed for RealPlayer 8. We have not updated it for the latest helix player and it has not been tested on the player (although it may work just fine). The player plugin installation is at http://www.screenwatch.com/linux/linuxbeta.htm Please download it and let us know the version of player you are trying it on. Thanks, OPTX Support |

Thanks, I tried it on a Mandrake 10.1 with RealPlayer 10.0.3.748 installed, but it didn't work.
The install_linux.sh didn't work either so I simply copied the 2 .so files to the plugin directory under /usr/local/RealPlayer/plugin/ but that made the player crash (segmentation fault). I'm not surprised because the plugins where made for realPlayer8, not for realPlayer10. greetings. |

Hi Jan,
We recently changed our plugin structure for realplayer 10 when we ported to the Macintosh. If there was enough demand for it, I could probably lobby that we support Linux again with the new format. But it might be later this year. We are looking at adding recording support to Linux's and also the the Mac. At that time, I am sure we would need to support it. This is also depending on the demand for it. Thanks for the update, OPTX Support |
